“The lady in the dark”

It was around 11:50 at night and Liliana was on the way back to home. Being intoxicated and weary after attending the bachelor’s party at office. She was a journalist in The Rodent’s Gazette. She was unable to walk properly and there were no taxies for her help since it was too late. However she managed to reach the Olivander’s Road which was at a distance of about 500m from her house. These late night parties were common for her. But tonight, it was different. There was no moon and not even a single star was shinning. The road was looking scary. It was an uncanny environment as the lights of the lamp posts were flickering. She took out her phone from her purse whose battery were running down. She turned on the torch of the phone.

Heavy winds were blowing. It was a chilling atmosphere. The sky was full of dark clouds. It seemed like it will rain heavily soon. And Liliana continued to moved towards her house. As she moved ahead, she saw someone sitting on the track. It was an unclear sight. However Liliana managed to see. It was a lady wearing traditional clothes. She went nearer to the lady and suddenly the flickering lights of the lamp post went off. Being a courageous woman she moved a little closer to the lady. The lady appeared to be crying. Her head hung down, she held her face in her hands and was weeping peculiarly. It was a soundless weeping and Liliana felt distinctly awkward.

Liliana asked her “What happened Miss why are you crying? “ The lady didn’t replied and she continued her soundless weeping. Liliana asked the same question twice, thrice but the lady didn’t answered. Liliana said ” How can I help you? , please stop crying and look up!!”. The lady removed her hand from her face and slightly looked at Liliana who was checking her phone. Light of the torch from Liliana’s phone fall on the lady’s face. She was smiling and it was a horrific smile. Liliana screamed loudly and started running towards her house. Suddenly some eerie sounds started penetrating in her ears. She was very afraid. It was a wierd smile.

She reached home around 12:15 and started searching for keys in her bags. Her hands were shivering. She found the keys and hurriedly opened the door and went in. She kept her bag down on the table and went to the kitchen to have some water. She opened the refrigerator and checked for the bottle of water but there was none. She sat on the chair which was kept in the kitchen and started pondering to what she saw today. Suddenly there was crackling sound which made Liliana frighten. She stood up and slowly walked to the hall from where the sound came and got to know that it was the sound of the flower vase which fell down due to the strong winds coming from the window. She got relieved and went to close the window and suddenly the lights went off. She moved to the store room and brought a torch.

She thought to go to the backyard to check the electricity problem. She opened the backyard door, strong winds started opposing her movement. However she managed to reach to the main connection. She switched the buttons on and off twice and thrice but it seems like there was some problem from the torrent. Suddenly something fall on her hand and she screamed, it was a black spider. She got relieved and removed it from her hand. Moving back to the backyard door, she fall down as if someone had pushed her. The torch from her hand slipped out and broken down. Thinking that some stone might have came in the path due to which she stumbled. She got injured. Her leg started paining. But she stood up and started dusting ber clothes. Then she saw a lady in the black traditional clothes standing near the boundary whom she met on the way. She called out“Who’s there? “. The lady didn’t replied and turned towards Liliana and the girl was shocked to see her face, it was……

Ever since nobody came in contact with her cause she was nowhere to be found….
